![]() ![]() Indra A. Books, Stylist Indra was destined for this career as a young girl. At the age of 10 she started sewing with her mother and grandmother simply because they were doing it but by age 12 she had won her first competition for dress design. By 14 she was designing period costumes for local theatre. That was when she decided that she was headed straight for a career as a promising new designer but the brakes got put on that idea when she realized that she did this for fun and didn’t want it to become work or a project where a teacher was going to squelch her creativity for a grade. So, when Indra was 15 her mother suggested that instead she take her eye for fashion and design and move to NYC to be a personal shopper for wealthy ladies. Indra had bigger ideas though and went in an entirely different career path although not throwing the fashion world out the door. At university, she created ball gowns for the sorority girls as a way to buy books. Twenty years later, Indra had to call her mother and eat crow. She had just started her own life management company, ON THE GO 4 U®, that includes personal shopping. She now outfits clients all across the metro area who have no inclination to shop retail or don’t have an eye for style. She also takes groups of women to NYC to shop the busy Manhattan streets where if you can’t find it, you don’t need it. Indra is active in both the Loudoun and Dulles Chambers of Commerce as well as Success in the City and the International Concierge and Errand Association. She is also the local chair for the Arthritis Foundation. ![]() ![]() |
